What are the system requirements for DriveSafe Online courses?

DriveSafe Online® Defensive Driving Courses are HTML5 & mobile friendly*

Recommended: Desktop computer, laptop or tablet.

DriveSafe Online traffic school and defensive driving courses can be used on all major browsers with the latest updates. We have the most success using Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari and Opera

 

*Mobile phone users may need to adjust and/or minimize full screen video to access course navigation. Full screen video playback can cover course navigation buttons.

How do I print my certificate?

  1. Click on the “Returning User Login” button in the upper area of this page
  2. Enter your registration username and password
  3. Click on the “Certificate of Completion” button
    1. Your certificate will be displayed
    2. Click the “Print Certificate” button near the bottom of the screen

How do I access my course?

In order to access your existing course, you will need to click the white “Returning User Login” button on our website www.drivesafeonline.org. Once you access the User Login page, you will need to enter your username and password and then click the “Login” button.

I have registered for the course on a mobile device. Can I still access the course on a laptop or desktop?

Yes. You can access the course with your existing login credentials on any desktop or laptop which has internet connection or Wi-Fi access. Desktops and laptops are available at most public libraries, print shops, and some “internet” cafes. Also keep in mind that you have a three-month grace period from the registration date listed on your order confirmation to complete your course and earn a passing score on the final exam.

What is the difference between the 1-hour and 6-hour course?

The 6-hour course is extremely comprehensive and covers all aspects of defensive driving in considerable depth. The 1-hour course covers the main subjects but in less detail than the 6-Hour course If you are unsure which course to take, you should contact your agent to see if they require our 6-hour course or if they will accept the 1-hour course. If you have already registered for the 1-hour course but require the 6-hour course, we would be more than happy to switch your course registration to the 6-hour course at no additional cost.

My email was not found in the system, what should I do?

If you are trying to recover your password using the “Forgot Password” feature, please note that you must enter your username for us to send your login credentials. If you have forgotten your username, please fill out the form below and indicate that you have forgotten your username and our support staff will send your username.

Can I qualify for a discount on my auto insurance with the 1-hour course in my state?

Course length requirements vary from state to state from 1 to 8 hours. We suggest that you contact your insurance agent to see if you qualify and find out which course is required for a discount.

Can I get an ”Official” or ”Court” copy of my certificate?

In some states our courses are approved for ticket dismissal or point reduction purposes. The court clerk or prosecuting attorney can tell you what is required and if you qualify.

Can this course be used to dismiss a traffic violation or reduce points?

Yes, in some states and if you qualify. The court clerk, prosecuting attorney or pre-trial director can usually tell you based on your specific situatiuon. There are also some courts that will honor our course on an individual basis for other purposes such as conditions to meet a probation requirement. However, always check with the court first before purchasing the course to ensure it will work for your needs.

Can this course be used to remove points off my license?

Yes, in some states. Point reduction is only allowed in states where our course is state approved for that purpose. If you need our course for this purpose, review our information by choosing your state from the “Select Your State” menu. If the course is approved for point reduction, we will mention that in the text on that page.

If I take this course will I be able to receive my drivers license at the DMV?

No. Our course is not a driver education course or equivalent to driver’s education. We suggest that you check with your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles to see if they provide or recommend a course for that purpose.

I have misplaced my certificate; can I get another copy of it?

Yes, you can log into your course at any time and print your certificate from the My Course page by clicking the “Certificate of Completion” button.

The courses freezes, there is no audio, or the screen is black. What should I do?

You should first try close and reopen the course, then log out then back in. If that does not work, we suggest that you verify that popup blockers have been disabled. If you are having audio problems and check the sound/volume settings on the player and your computer or mobile device. You might also try clearing your browser’s cache. If the course is still not working properly you should also try using a different web browser.

If you are still unable to continue with your course, we strongly recommend using a different mobile device or a laptop/desktop. Additionally, if you are on a computer which is attached to a network, it’s possible that a network firewall is preventing the course from working properly. If this is the case, we suggest taking the course outside of the respective network.

The course keeps starting from the beginning and does not record my progress from my previous session; What should I do?

If your course is not recording your progress, there is a possibility that a 3rd party software or App on your computer or device that may be affecting your course. If this is the case, you will need to disable these applications. If you course is still not recording progress, we recommend using a different browser and verify that popup blockers have been disabled on that browser.

We also suggest that you regularly check the progress of your course by clicking the “Menu” button while in the course. If the chapters are still not recording as complete, we strongly recommend using a different laptop/desktop or mobile device.

Additionally, if you are on a computer which is attached to a network, it’s possible that a network firewall is preventing the course from working properly. If this is the case, we suggest taking the course outside of the respective network
